Over
the past few years, the Housing Corporation
has supported a large number of projects
and initiatives under its Innovation and
Good Practice (IGP) grants. Some of these
address the issue of sustainability or sustainable
development, or aspects within that broad
heading. In this way a large number of useful
products, systems, websites, networks, guides,
collections of case studies and other reference
material has been amassed. This gives anyone
interested in developing sustainability within
their housing association two problems -
how to choose and where to start.
Routes
to Sustainability offers a solution
to these problems, it is a toolbox and
searchable database that aims to:
• Identify
products that assist housing associations
to move forward in one or more policy areas
• Provide
routes between products so that logical
choices can be made when moving on from
the current project
• Allow
people to start at the most appropriate
point for their own situation
• Allow
people to choose the most appropriate style
of tool for their organisation or community
• Allow
organisations to take a longer term view
of what sustainable development means for
them in terms of action
